| Nitin has been Vice President, Wireless Data Networking, in the
wireless network infrastructure division of Lucent Technologies since December 1997.
In his present capacity he has
responsibility for network architecture, technology development and applications
development for wireless data for Lucents wireless products for the mobile and fixed
wireless access systems. This includes both the current second-generation systems and the
emerging 3rd Generation wireless systems.
Prior to that, since 1992, he had
responsibility for the development of advanced technologies for wireless communications,
as Director of Wireless Core Technology at Lucent Technologies.
He initiated projects on
distributed computing technology for wireless networks, object-oriented software systems,
led efforts on speech coding and compression technologies for CDMA, TDMA and GSM systems,
and initiated several new product initiatives for fixed and mobile wireless systems.
Nitin has been with Bell
Laboratories since 1983, and initially worked on the development of Gallium Arsenide
semiconductor and optoelectronic devices. He has been in the wireless field since 1990.
He received his B.A. (1979) and M.A. (1982) in
Natural Sciences and Ph.D. (1983) in Microelectronics, all from the University of
Cambridge, Cambridge, England. |
