Finding the Sweet Spots and Creating Successful Business Models: Panel
Discussion
The convergence of mobile services with the
Internet presents all the major players with new challenges. A dramatic shift is underway
in where the value lies, and in what it will take to create and capture that value. What
types of services will appeal to the mass consumer? What are the potential sources of new
value? How can a wireless operator make a seamless move from basic voice services to
advanced wireless data? And, what kinds of business and pricing models need to be in place
for operators to generate additional revenues without discouraging consumer adoption? |

Mobile
Enterprise Strategy: How Wireless Technology can Revitalize Traditional Business Mobile applications are poised to move beyond re-purposed Web content for
cell phones and PDAs to become an integral part of a companys business. Mobile
applications can have a major impact on a companys internal processes, from boosting
sales-force productivity to improving customer relationship management.
In this session, Omar Javaid will discuss how businesses can
benefit from adopting a mobile enterprise strategy. He will provide real-world examples of
how companies are using these technologies to impact the bottom line. Technologies that he
will highlight include applications to boost employee productivity and enable sales force
automation. He will also explain why early adopters can have an edge over the competition.

Integrating
Wireless LANs and Mobile Networks: Panel Discussion Wireless LAN technologies, especially 802.11b (WiFi) LANs, are growing at
tremendous rates. Last year 4.9 million wireless LAN nodes were shipped worldwide (up from
roughly 1.4 million in 1999) and shipments are expected to reach 55.9 million in 2006,
according to Allied Business Intelligence, a New York-based technology research
consultancy. At the same time, carriers are trying to handle increasing call volumes in
high-density areas. How can carriers tap into this growth and incorporate the high data
rates (but short range) of wireless LAN technology into their nationwide networks, which
offer wide coverage areas but low data rates? What are the opportunities and the technical
challenges? |
