Michael Merrill

Chairman & CEO

ePhones

Michael F. Merrill is the Chairman and CEO of ePhones.com, a leading wireless Internet destination offering the latest cellular and PCS phones, WAP-enabled SmartPhones, PCS wireless data, High-Speed Internet access and long distance services and products from multiple carriers nationwide. ePhones.com is backed by $14 million in new venture capital money- from U.S. Venture Partners, Alta Partners and Alta Communications. Prior to founding ePhones, Merrill established Totally Wireless in 1988, and it became the first retailer in the country to sign non-exclusive carrier agreements in 1996, which led to the company’s successful retail expansion and diversification into new product lines. Totally Wireless with stores throughout San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle and Salt Lake City, began the transition to ePhones.com, manifesting the company’s new multi-channel, "clicks and mortar" direction, positioning its strong offline assets like physical stores, supplier relationships, customer knowledge and domain expertise with a strong Internet presence. Most recently ePhones.com created the first multi-channel telecommunications network of its kind. ePhones B2B initiative created an online network of wireless retailers throughout the country, giving them access to ePhones’ wireless e-Commerce engine, proprietary rate plan database, nationwide carrier agreements and online access to a wide range of wireless and telecom services.

Prior to founding Totally Wireless, Mr. Merrill served as a Captain in the Field Artillery and an U.S. Army Ranger. He earned a B. S. in Engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was a Rhodes Scholar candidate and distinguished cadet (top 5% of his class).
