Burt Liebowitz Burt Liebowitz

Independent Consultant

Burt H. Liebowitz is a telecommunications consultant specializing in business planing and technology assessment. He served as President and COO of NetSat Express Inc., a major provider of satellite-based Internet connectivity and value added services to ISPs around the world. Previously he was Chief Technical Officer for Loral Orion (now CyberStar), responsible for the development of Internet-over-satellite access products. Before that, Mr. Liebowitz was Principal Engineer at the MITRE Corporation, President of the Sombers Group, and Senior Vice President at Contel Information Systems.

Mr. Liebowitz is the author of two books on distributed processing, and numerous articles on highly reliable, high performance computing and communications systems. He has lectured extensively on Internet over Satellite and computer networking. He holds two patents on TDMA/DAMA systems for satellites, and a third covering an approach to providing Internet services over satellite. He is currently developing a training course on networking over satellite. Mr. Liebowitz has B.E.E. and M.S. in Mathematics degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.S.E.E. from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn.
