Then a close look at the cost reduction efforts needed to ensure the competitiveness of these services in areas where cable and DSL are available, will be presented. Questions to be addressed: How will the services evolve as they are deployed for both home and SME's (small and medium enterprises)? Are providers targeting specific niches or aiming for a wider, mass audience? What will determine a system's economic viability and level of success? What are the implications of the design decisions of each system and service?

The panel will seek to answer the following questions: What do consumers want -- a high-end, feature-rich service or an economical, limited-feature offering? What will the adoption curve look like? How can existing technologies, both on- and off-plane, be utilized to make these new capabilities available? What are the prospects for creating additional communications (e.g., cockpit monitoring, remote control) capabilities for increased flight safety?
