Stephen A. Blum, a 25 year veteran of the broadcasting and telecommunications industry, is President of Tellus Venture Associates. He has built a well respected, results oriented consulting practice, and is widely recognized as an expert in developing new digital and satellite broadcasting ventures. He is a frequent contributor to professional journals and speaker at industry events, serves on the advisory boards of Satellite Communications and Satcom.isp magazine, has published definitive studies on satellite radio, television and Internet broadcasting, authored widely used market forecasts for new digital products and services, and is Vice President, Chapters of the Society of Satellite Professionals International.

Blum was an early member of the start-up team and a consumer marketing executive for U.S. Satellite Broadcasting, playing a key role in the development, launch and growth of DirecTv, North America's first true DBS service and the most successful new product introduction in consumer electronics history. He was instrumental in taking USSB from its formation and initial capitalization stages, through its operational launch and finally to a very successful IPO. Blum has served as president and owner of the Carmel Group, director of marketing for Conus Communications, and as a broadcast news executive and journalist. He has received a number of major professional honors, including the PRSA Silver Anvil and the Ellen B. Scripps Fellowship. He is a trustee of the World Affairs Council of the Monterey Bay Area, and is on the board of USA Triathlon/Southwest. He holds an A.B. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. in East Asia Studies from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas. He is a nationally ranked triathlete and an Ironman finisher, and resides in the Monterey Bay area.
