Ashok K. Thareja
is the Chairman and founder of Orblynx, Inc. This is the third company he has founded. He
founded Orblynx in April 1999 and led the company as its Chairman and CEO for two years.
In 1984, he founded A&T
Systems, Inc., the parent of Orblynx, with a personal investment of $400. A&T Systems
is now a well-established $50mil revenue services firm specializing in software
development, systems engineering, legacy application migration and systems and network
management. During the last 16 years, as CEO, Dr. Thareja led the company's development
through both internal growth and acquisitions.
In 1997, A&T Systems incubated and funded
Snare Networks Corporation, an Internet security software company. As a Director of Snare
Networks, Dr. Thareja guided its product, marketing and financial strategy. In September
1999, Computer Associates acquired Snare Networks.
Prior to being at A&T Systems, as a
research faculty member, Dr. Thareja led efforts at the Laboratory for Parallel
Computation at the University of Maryland. There he directed research and development
efforts in parallel processing. He also conducted research in performance monitoring and
modeling of UNIX systems.
At BGS Systems, where he was R&D Manager,
Dr. Thareja developed modeling tool, BEST/1-SNA for IBM's SNA networks. Dr. Thareja
received his Ph.D. in Computer Science, in the area of performance modeling of computer
networks such as ARPANET, at the University of Maryland.
