Mr. Stratigos is
Vice president and General Manager of EchoStar Data Networks. Located in Atlanta, Georgia,
EchoStar Data Networks is responsible for the design and development of broadband
satellite technologies for deployment within EchoStar's Dish Network. EDN's mission
includes broadband content distribution to enterprise customers and enabling technologies
for one-way and two-way broadband satellite communications. He co-founded and was
previously CEO of Media4, Inc, where he pioneered the technology to connect personal
computers to direct broadcast satellite networks. Media4 was acquired by EchoStar in 1999.
A serial entrepreneur, Mr. Stratigos was also
a co-founder of Tridom Corporation, an early developer of interactive VSAT technology
where he served in various executive positions and a founder of Wireless Communications
Consultants and Encom Systems.
Mr. Stratigos has been involved in satellite
and wireless communications engineering and marketing for over 20 years. He has also held
senior development and management positions at Scientific-Atlanta, Georgia Tech Research
Institute and Motorola.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Stratigos
earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of
Technology in 1974, and a master's degree in electrical engineering, also from the Georgia
Institute of Technology in 1980. He is a member of the IEEE, a frequent speaker on the
subject of broadband satellite technology and markets and has co-authored books on VSAT
technology and wireless multimedia networks.
