Senior Vice President, Engineering & Operations, WorldSpace, Washington DC

  • Responsible for the engineering, deployment and operations of the complete worldwide infrastructure consisting of three satellites, broadcast and business networks.
  • Played a leading role for the infrastructure for XM Radio, one of the two digital mobile radio satellite systems authorized by the FCC in the United States.

1978-1996
Director, System Planning & Development, Intelsat, Washington, DC

  • Managed Intelsat’s Technology Programs
  • Established Integrated Planning & Engineering Teams for the business justification, procurement, deployment and operations of 16 new satellites, (Intelsat VII, VIII and K series), today forming the backbone of INTELSAT’s and New Skies networks.
  • Led the development of second generation TDMA system that rejuvenated this access technique.

1956-1978
Prior to crossing the oceans in 1978, Mr. Sachdev held several senior positions in the Indian Telecommunications Service and the associated industry.

  • Created one of the largest design and development organizations at Bangalore and led the development and production of a whole new range of commercial and government systems for telecommunications including satellite systems.
  • Received Vikram Sarabhai award in 1976.
