David Beering is
a Principal Partner of Infinite Global Infrastructures, LLC, based in Chicago, IL. IGI's
current work focuses on the design, integration, and deployment of large scale
high-performance virtual networks for clients including NASA, Lockheed Martin Space
Operations, Boeing Satellite Systems, and the US Navy.
When IGI was founded in 1997, Beering was its
sole employee. The company has since grown to nine full-time professionals located in
Chicago, IL; Cleveland, OH; Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA; and Baton Rouge, LA.
Prior to his current position, he spent five
years with AT&T Communications and seven years with Amoco Corporation, both in
Chicago, IL. During his tenure at Amoco he designed and deployed fiber optic backbone data
networks at three oil refineries, two chemical plants and numerous high-rise buildings.
During 1995 and 1996, Beering was the project
director of the American Petroleum Institutes ATM Research & Industrial
Enterprise Study (ARIES), a collaborative broadband technology development effort
involving more than 34 organizations from petroleum, government, health care and
communications.
He is presently working extensively with
NASA's Glenn Research Center and Johnson Space Center to develop reference architectures,
coordinate research, and conduct demonstrations on communications networks using TCP/IP
and ATM. Much of his experimental work has utilized NASA's Advanced Communications
Technology Satellite operating in the Ka-Band at rates of 155 and 622 megabits per second.
Beering also serves as a network architect for Lockheed Martin Corporation's Consolidated
Space Operations Contract (CSOC) team. He maintains strong ties to the Petroleum and
Health Care sectors, and is a frequent speaker at industry forums around the world.
Beering is a member of the Institute of
Electrical & Electronics Engineers, the Association for Computing Machinery, the
American Meteorological Society, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer & Electrical Engineering and
a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, both from Purdue University.
