Alex is a former professor in the department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He mixes world-class research ability with practical, in-the-trenches product development experience. He's led a variety of sponsored research projects that involved applying artificial intelligence to solving real-world problems in software engineering and the development of intelligent user interfaces. At the same time, he's spent over 15 years helping some of the leading high-tech companies develop better software. And in his spare time he's managed to be the co-author of a best selling series of programming textbooks. Alex has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UCLA.
