Strategis Group, the number of telematics subscribers in the United States will reach
820,000 this year and surpass 11 million in 2004. Mobile devices will also soon have the
capability to interface with the vehicle to provide content and resources regardless of
the environment.
In this session, Peter
Holland will discuss the expanding market for delivering driver-specific content to the
car, including key ingredients necessary for mass market acceptance, plus applications
drivers demand like predictive traffic, turn-by-turn directions, maintenance alerts and
other Internet content tailored for the driving environment. He will also discuss the
emergence of new technical standards to make wireless Internet and automotive-based
computing seamless technologies in the coming years.
