		Jay Patel is a senior analyst in the Yankee Group’s Carrier Convergence Infrastructure (CCI) Planning Service. In this capacity, Mr. Patel covers optical components and subsystems such as tunable lasers, transceivers, variable optical attenuators, amplifiers, filters, etc; Optical technologies including MEMS, bubble, thermo-optics, LCD, tunable lasers and DWDM; Next generation communication specific processors/network processors; Communications semiconductors. Prior to joining the Yankee Group, Mr. Patel worked as an independent researcher and consultant performing financial and competitive analysis of various companies and sub-industries in the semiconductor, software, networking and computing space. Prior to that, Mr. Patel worked as a software engineer developing electronic design automation software at National Semiconductor, a manufacturer of analog, digital and mixed signal integrated circuits. Mr. Patel holds a BS in electrical engineering from M.S. University, India, an MS in electrical engineering from University of Massachusetts and an MBA in finance from University of Southern Maine.
