Octavio Morales has over 15 years of high-tech industry experience in a variety of engineering and marketing positions. Prior to joining World Wide Packets, Mr. Morales served as Packet Engines’ Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Asia and Latin America. In this position, he successfully established a strong market presence in these key markets and grew sales from zero to over one-third of company revenues in just one year. Also at Packet Engines, he held the position of Director of Product Management. Under his direction, Packet Engines released its first set of Gigabit Ethernet products, and received the first of two prestigious “Best of Show Finalist” awards at Networld+Interop Atlanta in 1997. Prior to Packet Engines, Mr. Morales was employed by Fort Collins, Colorado-based Symbios Logic (formerly NCR Microelectronics) where he managed development and marketing activities for Gigabaud Fibre Channel Transceivers and IEEE 1394 controllers. While at Symbios, he also directed product management activities for over a dozen successful Ethernet products. From 1985 to 1990, Mr. Morales held design-engineering positions at Space Tech, Inc. and Automated Controls, Inc. From 1990 to 1996, Mr. Morales served on the marketing faculty at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, with responsibility for both undergraduate and graduate courses. Mr. Morales has published and presented extensively in international publications and events, including several IEEE conferences and trade shows like Networld+Interop and Comdex. Based on his industry experience, Mr. Morales was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Alliance (10 GEA), an industry association focused on accelerating and promoting market acceptance for 10 Gigabit Ethernet. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Marketing, both from Colorado State University.
