Christopher Baugh
joined Pioneer Consulting in May of 1999 and holds the title of Senior Satellite Analyst.
Mr. Baughs primary duties at Pioneer include authoring detailed satellite market
research reports, conducting single-client directed research and consulting for satellite
industry clients, and writing analytical pieces for Pioneers monthly newsletter
entitled "The Pioneer Report on International Telecom Networks." Mr. Baugh is
the primary author of Pioneers recently released report entitled, "Satellite
Mediacasting: A New Model for the Internet," which profiles the market for
satellite-based one-to-many content distribution services and forecasts the growth of the
satellite mediacasting industry. Mr. Baugh is also the author of Pioneers 1999
report entitled, "Next Generation Broadband Satellite Networks." This report
profiles the emerging broadband satellite market and forecasts the worldwide growth of
broadband satellite services.
Mr. Baugh is frequently quoted in various
industry and news publications. Examples of such publications include the Wall Street
Journal, Time, Business Week, Wired News, Telephony, CNNfn, Tele.com, Internet World,
Satellite Communications, Forbes and CBS Marketwatch. Mr. Baugh is also regularly invited
to speak to various telecommunications conferences on the state of the broadband satellite
industry and emerging satellite applications. Mr. Baugh regular presents papers to
conferences in North America, Europe and Asia.
Before joining Pioneer, Mr. Baugh was an
International Trade Specialist and an Economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce in
Washington, DC. Mr. Baugh regularly counseled firms on international trade policy, trade
negotiations and international trade disputes. As the Department of Commerce
representative to various interagency executive committees, Mr. Baugh played an important
role in U.S. trade policy formulation.
Mr. Baugh also has extensive legislative and
analytical experience from his work for the Committee on International Relations and the
Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, both in the U.S. House of Representatives.
