VINAY KUMAR

Founder, President and CTO

ICAST Corporation

Vinay Kumar is the cofounder, president and CTO of ICAST Corporation, a software company established in 1995 specializing in broadcasting solutions for the Internet. Prior to founding ICAST, Kumar was the chief networking engineer during the founding days at EIT, which spun-off and became CommerceNet in 1993 and Terisa Systems in 1994. He co-authored the Secure-HTTP protocol, the technology behind the first Secure Web browsers and servers. Kumar also authored several premiere networking software technologies such as Shared Mosaic, Storyboard, and MBone VCR during 1993-1995. Additionally, in 1997, he created MBONE.COM, the first and most popular online information source for IP Multicast and MBone.

In 1995, Kumar published the first and best-selling book about IP multicast and MBone, MBone Interactive Multimedia On the Internet, which is also now available in Japanese. He has been published extensively in both professional and popular publications.

Kumar has a BS in Computer Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a MS in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University. He is currently a voting member of the ACM.
