INTELSAT

John Stevenson is Manager, Communications Engineering Support and R&D group of the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT), a commercial consortium of more than 135 countries which owns and operates a global system of satellites providing worldwide telecommunications services.

Dr. Stevenson, a British citizen, joined INTELSAT in 1979. He has had a long association with the research and development activities of the Organization, covering satellite technology and sub-system development and reliability engineering as well as satcom service and transmission topics.

Currently, Dr. Stevenson’s responsibilities encompass the technical definition and specification of all INTELSAT service offerings, as well as managing pilot service trials and demonstrations undertaken within the INTELSAT system. Prior to joining INTELSAT, Dr. Stevenson held a technical staff position at the British Telecom Research Centre in the U.K.

Dr. Stevenson was awarded a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology (University of London) in the U.K. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry from Leicester University.
