Mr. Stratigos has had a distinguished career in telecommunications engineering and
marketing. In addition to co-founding Media4 in 1993, he co-founded two other
telecommunications firms - Encom Systems in 1982 and Tridom Corporation in 1984 (renamed
AT&T Tridom after being acquired by AT&T in 1988). He is recognized as an industry
pioneer and developer of Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology.
As an executive at Tridom for more than nine years, Mr. Stratigos served in a variety
of capacities including vice president of engineering and vice president, international
marketing. Under his direction, Tridom's international business expanded into Europe,
South America and Asia, growing to more than $30 million in annual sales. Previously, Mr.
Stratigos held positions that called upon his expertise in satellite and microwave
technology at Scientific Atlanta, Motorola and the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Under Mr. Stratigos' direction, Media4 has become the leading supplier of PC-based
satellite products. Media4 pioneered the technology to connect personal computers with the
high-bandwidth capacity of satellites. Media4 provides MediaStreamTM technology to
collect, manage and broadcast Internet and multimedia content to low-cost PC based
receivers.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. Stratigos earned a bachelor's degree in electrical
engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1974, and a master's degree in
electrical engineering, also from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1980. He is a
member of the IEEE, a frequent speaker on the subject of broadband satellite technology
and markets and has co-authored books on VSAT technology and wireless multimedia networks. |
