Dennis Conti DENNIS M. CONTI, Ph.D.

Dr. Dennis Conti, vice president for sales and marketing, Satellite Networks Division, is responsible for all satellite and sales and marketing activities in North America for Hughes Network Systems (HNS), a Hughes Electronicsb Corporation company.

Conti joined HNS in 1982 and held a variety of engineering management positions before assuming his current marketing responsibilities. Conti at one time led all HNS very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite network engineering activities and was part of the VSAT engineering team from its inception. In addition, he led the internal HNS development of the first version of the DirecPCTM service that delivers Internet content at very high speeds directly to the desktop.

Before joining HNS, Conti managed projects related to the development of federal government systems and software standards for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (formerly known as the National Bureau of Standards). For the U.S. Naval Surface Weapons Laboratory, Conti was responsible for the development of operating system software for CDC and IBM mainframe computers.

Conti received his Doctorate and Master of Science degrees, both in computer science, from Purdue University. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Dayton in Dayton, OH. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Sigma Xi, and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). He also is a published author of several articles for professional and trade journals and periodicals.
