Antoinette Cook Bush represents companies in administrative, legislative
and matters involving communications issues as well as other legislative matters. A
significant portion of her practice is devoted to representing clients before the Federal
Communications Commission. Specifically, her clients include entities involved in the
broadcast, cable, satellite, telephone and mobile communications business. She also
represents a number of not-for-profit communications companies.
Prior to joining Skadden, Arps, Ms. Cook Bush served as senior counsel to the
Communications Subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation
Committee. The Subcommittee has oversight responsibility for the Federal Communications
Commission, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and public
broadcasting. She was the principal staff person responsible for all legislation involving
Transportation communications issues, including the Cable Television Consumer Protection
and Associations/Affiliations Competition Act of 1992 and the Public Telecommunications
Act of 1992, which authorized funding for public broadcasting. From 1981 until she joined
the U.S. Senate Committee staff, Ms. Cook Bush practiced law in Washington, D.C. She
advised clients regarding the acquisition and sale of broadcasting stations, companies and
represented clients in proceedings before the Federal Communications Commission.
Ms. Cook Bush remains active in communications policy issues and speaks often to
companies and organizations regarding developments in this area.
