Ramu
Potarazu is Vice President of Operations and Chief Information Officer of the
International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (INTELSAT), a commercial
consortium of more than 140 countries which owns and operates a global system of
satellites providing worldwide telecommunications services.
Mr. Potarazu is a US citizen who
joined INTELSAT in 1990. Mr. Potarazu was elected by the INTELSAT Board of Governors in
December 1998 and was promoted to Vice President of Operations and CIO. Prior to being
named Vice President and Chief Information Officer in 1997, he headed the Information
Systems department for over a year and had managed the Business Systems function of the
department for four years. In 1991, Mr. Potarazu took over the management of the data
processing requirements of the Satellite Control Center and TT&C sites. A year
earlier, he joined INTELSAT, initially working on software development of the ground
processing of telemetry, command and ranging data for INTELSAT spacecraft. Before joining
INTELSAT, Mr. Potarazu developed satellite systems for Contel.
Mr. Potarazu holds a Masters
degree in Engineering (Computer Science) from Johns Hopkins University, a degree in
Computer Science and Mathematics from Oklahoma Christian University. |
