| Satellites
and the Internet '99 will explore how satellites are helping to meet the explosive
demand for Internet and multimedia communications services. A variety of Internet-based
applications including high-speed access, IP Multicasting, ATM-over satellite,
satellite-based intranets, VoIP, and satellite-terrestrial hybrid networks will be
discussed. In addition, new technologies and their expected impact will be considered
including the LEO systems, hybrid constellations, the Ka-band satellites, software
advancements, IP/TCP/MPEG/DVB protocol issues, smart antenna technology, user equipment
developments and trends, return-path technologies and new VSAT capabilities. Business
track issues will include industry forecasts and outlook, business models, alliance
strategies, spectrum allocation and licensing, and the role of satellites in the future of
