Mr.
Douglas Merrill Dillon received BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from the
University of Maryland in 1977 and 1978.
Mr. Dillon is the inventor of DirecPC,
the world's first consumer, broadband, satellite Internet service.
Mr. Dillon was the software architect
for Hughes Network Systems Personal Earth Station VSAT system which has achieved total
sales exceeding 2B$ and has over 200,000 VSATs installed world-wide.
Mr. Dillon has been awarded multiple
patents and is the 1998 winner of the Lawarence A. Hyland award for best patents within
Hughes Electronics. In 1996 Mr Dillon broke the record for oldest winner of Maryland's
Distinguished Young Engineer award. |
